Single Track

Just about as single
as a track can get...
That track is about as single as you can get, unless you are riding a unicycle.

The fresh snow and rabbit tracks, and the "cotton in your ears" sensation you get with fresh snow in the woods was really beautiful this morning. But the wet snow made for a pretty tough ride. There was enough snow that I had to stand up to push through it (single speed) but that would unweight the rear wheel and I would lose some traction - two crank turns to make one crank turn of progress.

But what a welcome break from all the mud and slop of the last month. Really spectacular. God I love the seasons.

  1. Well at least you have some snow. I'm still riding through the gloop. Only respite came when we had a really hard frost and the ground went solid. Fast and bumpy trails :)

  2. Yep if you want the miles this time of year, it means crawling out of bed and hitting the trails early while still frozen. A real test of your dedication but honestly early morning rides are my favorite. Trails to myself, wildlife still active, and it puts me in good frame of mind for the rest of the day. Make it a sunrise ride for the ultimate!

  3. I do. I go out while its still dark and put my lights on which adds a great element to the ride in itself, then get to see the sun come up. Even better is I'm home and get to still spend a good day with my family :)
